Is one day enough for Cappadocia? The answer depends on what you would like to explore. If you have only one day for Cappadocia, this article is for you. It's worth to explore the region even in one day. Below, you can find a detailed one-day itinerary.
To start the day in Cappadocia, the best place is definetly the Love Valley (Aşk Vadisi in Turkish). At the Love Valley, the sun shines on the fairy chimneys, and hot air balloons are flying over the valley. For the best views, go to the place marked 'Love Valley' on Google Maps. There is a very small fee for entering with car and parking. If you are coming by plane, I recommend renting a car because the Cappadocia plateau looks small on the map, however, a car is needed to reach most of the destinations.
If you wish to stroll among the cliffs - that's really worth the time, you can take breathtaking photos - go to the place marked 'Love Valley trail' on Google Maps. There is no entrance fee. If you are visiting Cappadocia in the summer, keep in mind that after 9 AM, the heat is scorching: the climate of Cappadocia is similar to a desert's.
Ürgüp is not just a great starting point for exploring Cappadocia, but also home of wonderful sights. In Ürgüp Büyükakten Yeraltı Evi Müzesi, you can see how people lived in cave dwellings until the 1950s. The museum is in a cave dwelling itself.
Near Ürgüp, there is a famous cluster of rocks, the Three Beauties Rock, Üç Güzeller in Turkish. This symbol of Cappadocia is just a few minutes drive from Ürgüp, and really worth visiting.
While Love Valley is the best for sunrise, for sunset, Rose Valley is the winner. The special landscape gives you a feeling that like you're on another planet. Narrow paths between rocks, from where you can see a giant rose rock with different layers.
